The Wilson Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. is proud to present its 2018-2019 Jabberwock Scholarship Program. This bi-annual event engages young women in our local community to programs centered around educational, cultural, and self-enrichment activities and events. Our program concludes on February 9, 2019 at 4pm with a Jabberwock Cotillion Gala and Scholarship Awards Ceremony. The event will be held at Darden Middle School, 1665 Lipscomb Road, Wilson.

Eligibility
Young ladies in grades Kindergarten - 12th are eligible to participate in the 6-month program. There are three categories. Grades K - 5th will compete for Little Miss Jabberwock. Grades 6 - 10 will participate in the Queen's Court and grades 11 - 12 will compete for the crown of Miss Jabberwock. The Queen's Court is a non-competitive group that will participate in all programs and activities including the Cotillion Gala.
Fees
There is a non-refundable participation fee for each category. The money will go towards program costs, service projects, and activities.

Little Miss and Miss Jabberwock
Young ladies in these categories will compete for the crown through fundraising. In both groups, there will be a second runner up, first runner up, and winner. The winner will be determined by the highest monies raised in donations and ticket sales. Afterwards, each contestant will receive 50% of their total funds raised to be used towards their own education.
Additional Scholarships
Funds not returned to contestants during Jabberwock are earmarked for scholarships granted to local high school seniors. Our scholarships include:
•Ruth J. Brown Scholarship– a $2000 award paid in $500 increments per year and given to one female senior at each local high school who enrolls in an HBCU. This is a competitive award based upon scholarship, leadership, and service.
•Jual P. Anderson Award – a $200 award given to one female senior at each high school who shows exceptional dedication to public service. The award may be used at the post-secondary school of the recipient’s choice.
Eligible Miss Jabberwock contestants are encouraged to apply for these scholarships as well.
Required Attire
For the conclusion of the Jabberwock in December, there will be a formal program. Contestants in both the Little Miss and Miss Jabberwock categories will need a floor length, A-line, uninterrupted white gown. Their escorts will wear formal black. Participants on the Queen's Court will need a floor length, A-line, uninterrupted red gown.
